IInterpretation of Logistics UK & CMR Terms

To make clear how our operations are governed, the following applies in addition to the Logistics UK and/or CMR Terms & Conditions of Carriage, as relevant:

1. Definitions
   – Logistics UK Terms: the standard terms of carriage (and storage, if relevant) set by Logistics UK for goods carried on UK roads or between UK points.
   – CMR Terms: the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR), which governs the liabilities, documentation, and claims for cross-border road transport between signatory countries.

2. When each set of terms applies
   – Logistics UK Terms apply to all carriage wholly within the UK, or domestic legs of international shipments where local law requires.
   – CMR Terms apply when goods are transported by road across international borders under the CMR Convention.

3. Liabilities, Claims & Insurance
   – We adopt the liability limitations, time limits for claims, and documentation requirements as set out in the applicable terms (Logistics UK or CMR).
   – Customers must ensure proper packaging and documentation; claims for damage, loss, or delay must be notified in writing within the time period set in the relevant terms.
   – Extra insurance coverage is available on request for high-value shipments where standard liability under these terms might not be sufficient.

4. Additional Provisions
   – In cases of customs clearance, taxes, duties or other charges assessed by government or customs authorities are the responsibility of the customer. NTS acts as agent or direct representative wherever agreed, but not as importer of record.
   – Invoices, payment terms, late payment interest, credit limits, and custom indemnities are governed by our separate Credit Terms, Credit Application, and Authority Forms, which supplement the Logistics UK / CMR terms.

5. Full documents available
   – The full Logistics UK Terms & Conditions of carriage, storage, etc. and CMR Convention text can be downloaded below or provided on request.
   – Any conflict between these supplemental terms and the standard documents is resolved according to the standard documents, unless otherwise expressly agreed in writing.
